We've been patrons of this establishment
We've been patrons of this establishment for several years, starting in 2019. Over time, we've noticed a decline in the quality of their offerings and their overall value for money. However, our most recent visit in December 2023 left us deeply dissatisfied, primarily due to the subpar service at the front desk.
The Front Office Manager, Miguel Bermudez, seems ill-suited for his role, displaying poor body language and a lack of aptitude towards guests. This attitude seems to be mirrored by his team at the front desk. During our check-in, they openly laughed at our family, seemingly unaware of internal policies that directly affected our stay – policies we were not informed of prior to our arrival.
It was revealed that the hotel had undergone an inspection by authorities regarding breaches related to human trafficking and underage prostitution policies in Cartagena. Unfortunately, the front desk staff's handling of this sensitive matter was extremely poor, exacerbated by Mr. Bermudez's lack of confidence, inadequate information, and training for his team.
Attempting to escalate the issue by requesting to speak to the manager proved futile, as the staff consistently evaded providing the necessary information, citing the General Manager's absence on vacation.
Witnessing numerous unhappy guests during our stay was surprising, and we even had the chance to speak to another family who faced similar issues during check-in. The lack of leadership within the Hyatt Regency Cartagena is evident, as highlighted in recent reports.
Regrettably, our experience has led us to the decision that this will be our last visit to the Hyatt Regency Cartagena de Indias. While we will continue to visit Cartagena for business or pleasure, we will actively avoid this hotel and will not recommend it to business partners, friends, or family.
It appears that Hyatt Regency Cartagena de Indias is following a path similar to another branded hotel nearby, facing persistent issues that, when addressed, were already too deeply entrenched, resulting in ongoing challenges and substantial costs.
A particular incident involving the closure of hot water in our room (2222) on the last night only added to our dissatisfaction. Messrs. Miguel Bermudez and Cleyder Reales, this decision further marred our experience, making our final stay at your hotel even more regrettable.
